The 100 Black Men of The Monterey Peninsula, Inc., is one of over 121 community based chapters of the national organization 100 Black Men of America, Inc. Since 1963, The 100 Black Men of America, a non profit organization headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, has steadily grown in prominence as one of our country’s pre-eminent support organizations for the African American Community.
Members of the “100” are trained and certified to become mentors, advocates, and role models for the youth within their communities. Through chapter operated one-on-one and group mentoring efforts, our members forge relationships that positively impact our greatest resource, our youth. The program focuses on building a combination of skills including character building, goal setting, peer to peer mentoring, conflict resolution and leadership development. These are the essential skills we believe are needed to become productive, contributing citizens.
The 100 Black Men of The Monterey Peninsula, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which pools the talents of successful African-American men to improve the quality of life in our great community. The ranks of the organization are filled with esteemed professionals such as businessmen, attorneys, physicians, educators and many others.The Monterey Chapter stands:
- Strong with members that give their time, energy and money;
- Strong with corporate sponsors to support our educational and community initiative;
- Strong with all socially and spiritually based community partners;
- Strong with the desire to make a difference one youth at a time
Men Building Bridges for Our Youth
- To create programs that address the many challenges facing our youth;
- To establish career preparation through education and goal setting;
- To serve as role models demonstrating values such as, integrity, tenacity and commitment;
- To present positive alternatives to substance abuse, crime and high truancy rates;
- To reinforce the values and the principles of personal responsibility, self-discipline and healthy behavior
The Pillars of our organization are: Mentoring, Education, Health and Wellness, Economic Development and Leadership.
The Monterey Chapter, chartered in June of 2007 is a group of concerned African-American men seeking to improve the quality of life in our ever-needing community. By pooling together collective resources, The 100 Black Men of Monterey Peninsula, Inc. seeks to enhance educational and economic opportunities for the youth that are the future of our community.
